The role of the Community Organizer is to promote community engagement, leadership development, partnership/alliance building, and development of new and relevant member led campaigns. The Community Organizer is responsible for: mobilizing WEE participants, conduct outreach to Revere residents, coordinate neighborhood events, and liaise with community-based groups as well as connecting with the full diversity of Revere.  The Community Organizer will think strategically and analytically about social, economic, cultural, and political issues affecting our community. You are accountable to promote information exchange and opportunities with the women of WEE and provide thorough verbal and written reports to the WEE Program Director and Board of Directors.

Women Encouraging Empowerment Inc. (WEE) is hiring a part-time Community Organizer. This person will be a core part of the WEE team and who is bilingual in Spanish and English as well as bicultural with experience in community organizing, outreach and networking. This position will be based in Revere at 50 Walnut Avenue, Revere, MA, 02151 at the WEE center, but will require working at a variety of locations within the community. The Community Organizer position is part-time (20 hours/week with a $15 per hour). No benefits are included. This position is grant funded. The opportunity to increase hours, stipend, and longevity is desired with continued organization growth by staff and board support in writing grants and other fundraising.

Responsibilities:
· Provide support to WEE participants and community residents who want to start and led new campaigns by balancing with the ongoing work of WEE organizational growth and development.
• Identify, recruit and develop leadership; build community around leadership; and build power out of community.
• Bring people together; challenge them to act on behalf of their shared values and interests.
• Through one on one’s, develop relationships, motivate participation, strategize the pathways, and take the action that enable people to gain new appreciation of their values, the resources to which they have access, their interests, and a new capacity to use their resources on behalf of their interests. Engage members in discerning why they should act to change their world – their values – and how they can act to change it – their strategy.
• Develop a relationship between constituency and leaders based on mutual responsibility and accountability
• Engage people in articulating the call to action as a shared story of the challenges they must face, the choices they must make, and the hope that can inspires the courage to make these choices now – a story of self, a story of us, and a story of now.
· Expand WEE membership base, and challenge members to commit, to act, and to act effectively; Develop a grassroots led coalition and raise WEE's visibility and organizing work
· Community outreach and recruitment and promotes attendance at organization and community meetings and events
· Engage members in deliberating about they can turn what they have (resources), into what they need (power) to get what they want (their interests): strategy; Facilitate training and workshops when needed to help WEE participants, residents and leaders learn the skills they need
· Represent WEE at community and neighborhood events, forums and meetings and build partnerships as appropriate
· Represent WEE at community and neighborhood events, forums and meetings and building relationships within the community and with diverse groups
· Maintain current and create new partnerships with other community and neighborhood improvement programs and organizations.
· Coordinate and carry out logistics for meetings, events and relevant activities for WEE Organizing Initiatives.
· Work with staff to design and maintain communication tools such as websites, Facebook, flyers and e-blasts.
· Engage in additional activities such as hanging flyers, door-knocking, blog posts, email, photos, website updates, other outreach, and general project support as needed
Prepare reports on WEE’s Organizing Initiative activities as required, for submission to funders, Director, Board and other stakeholders. Strive to be accountable and hold others accountable in every aspect of your job Perform other relevant duties as assigned.

I believe that community engagement is very important. Nowadays, several people in the community do not look for the time in order to participate in various community activities. Most people find an excuse, without recognizing the fact that this will be for their own benefit. I hope that after reading your post, more people will be encouraged to participate. Very nice work!
