We are currently seeking to fill the positions below:
ESL instructor
at Women Encouraging Empowerment
Adult ESL program is looking for teacher who can start in September 2019. You will need to be able to work Monday through Thursday teaching groups of 15-20 students.
Our students include low income women and men from community of Revere, Lynn, Chelsea, East Boston.. Successful applicants are native speakers or certified to teach ESL (TESOL, TEFL certificate, CELTA, DELTA), and experienced in teaching adult students in medium size classes. Teachers will need a firm grasp of English grammar. Knowledge of one more language is a plus.
Job responsibilities include:
Morning sessions are Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 to 11:30.
Evening sessions are Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:00 to 8:00.
A total of 8 hours per week plus 2 hours of preparation per week with possibility of extra 2 hours for conversation class on Fridays (time TBD)
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: starting at $18/hour

- Preparing and organizing class content using assigned textbooks and supplemental materials according to the given Course Objectives to facilitate and guide student achievement of the given Student Learning Outcomes and Course Goals
- Teaching and assessing all Student Learning Outcomes during each curriculum cycle
- Establishing a comfortable, communicative classroom environment
- Delivering course content in a professional, dynamic, and helpful manner
- Keeping records of student assignments and providing feedback for those completed
- Giving monthly assessments of student classwork
- Maintaining accurate attendance records
- Completing monthly student progress reports
- Performing other related duties as needed

Internships
EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT
Women Encouraging Empowerment is looking for an Executive Assistant to help with the operations of our organization. This intern will work closely with our Executive Director to help New American women (mainly immigrant and refugee women) and their families gain economic and social mobility through ESL, citizenship and job readiness courses. This position is for anyone who wants experience in community organizing, greater knowledge of the hardships New Americans face and the solutions to combat these issues, and understanding of how gender issues intersect with the international political and social agenda.
Desired Skills
The ideal candidate would:
- currently be working towards a bachelor's degree studying gender and/or international issues (or a similar discipline)
- has experience with or a desire to work with New Americans (immigrants, refugees, asylum seekers, etc.)
- identifies as female (although relevant experience is preferred and exceptions can be made)
- This is an unpaid internship; candidates may be able to receive college credit for their time.
- Help plan and coordinate courses, fundraisers, and awareness events
- Attend conferences and leadership workshops, representing our organization
- Write blog posts about courses, programs, and current events related to organization
- Update all social media accounts: website, Twitter, FB, and Insta
- Work one on one with clients, assisting them with applications, course work, and/or any other type of issue
- Manage communications: donation thank-you letters, e-mails, and phone
- Help the Executive Director with other related matters
